Procurement Officer, Intermediate - Tucson, AZ

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intermediate Procurement Officer to join our Tucson office to work on the Rosemont project, which is a large copper development project, located in Pima County, Arizona, approximately 30 miles southeast of Tucson.

[Company] has been working with Hudbay Minerals on the Rosemont Project since 2015; through value engineering and detailed feasibility study phases, proceeding to full EPCM development of the processing facilities, site infrastructure and tailings facilities. Project duration is expected to last from Q2 2019 to Q2 2022.

Rosemont will be the third-largest copper mine in the United States, accounting for 10% of domestic annual copper production, and has an expected 19-year mine life. The Project has recently completed a 10-year permitting process and will be one of the most environmentally sensitive and advanced operations ever permitted in the United States, including the largest dry stack tailings facility of its kind in the world. The processing plant will produce copper and molybdenum concentrates by a process that includes; crushing, grinding, flotation, concentrate handling, and filtration and dry-stacking of the tailing's residue.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:


· Support the Procurement Manager and Senior Procurement Officer on Purchasing matters

· Assist in the preparation of the Tender Enquiry Schedule in AusDB database as required

· Assist in the preparation of approved Tenderers Lists in AusDB database as required

· Maintain the Electronic Filing System for Purchasing

· Ensure full compliance to Purchasing Standards, Documentation and Procedures

· Ensure full compliance of day-to-day activities in accordance with project procedures


· Prepare and issue Tender Packages for Tender in accordance with Procurement Procedures

· Follow up receipt of Tender Acknowledgments

· Prepare the Tender Opening Form and assist with the opening of Tenders in accordance with Procurement Procedures

· Issue the Tenderers Quotation to the Engineering Department for Technical Evaluation after tender opening

· Create and update Commercial Bid Tab in preparation for tender evaluation in accordance with Procurement Procedures

· Issue written Technical and Commercial clarifications to Tenderers in accordance with Procurement Procedures

· Facilitate clarification meetings for both technical and commercial tender evaluations as required

· Ensure all conversations and meetings with Tenderers are recorded as minutes or memos

· Prepare Recommendations for Award in accordance with Procurement Procedures

· Raise Purchase Orders for approval ensuring compliance to procurement procedures

· Issue Purchase Order to Supplier and follow up receipt of Purchase Order Acknowledgement

· Conduct hand over meeting with nominated Expeditor for issued Purchase Order

· Action Purchase Order queries and raise variations for approval and issue as necessary

· Follow up receipt of Bank Guarantees and Securities and check conformance to Purchase Order requirements and release for storage in accordance with Project Procedures

· Ensure the Procurement filing system - both electronic (Livelink) and printed - is maintained

· Update and maintain records in AusDB database for all procurement related activities

· Assist with certification for approval of invoices and progress claims against project commitments

· Administrative duties as required by the Procurement Manager or Senior Procurement Officer

· Carry out safe work practices in compliance with all applicable Workplace Health and Safety Laws, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice


· Degree or diploma level qualification in relevant field is desirable and/or equivalent work experience

· 5-10 years' Procurement experience, preferably in the mining industry within a project environment

· Experience with EPC/ EPCM Procurement automation systems for Purchasing

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Attention to detail and accuracy

· The ability to meet the challenge of tight deadlines and providing exceptional services to our clients is a must

· Exceptional negotiating and networking skills would be an asset

· A proven track record managing multiple equipment packages simultaneously
