Document Controller, Senior - Tucson, AZ

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Document Controller to join our Tucson office to work on the Rosemont project, which is a large copper development project, located in Pima County, Arizona, approximately 30 miles southeast of Tucson.

[Company] has been working with Hudbay Minerals on the Rosemont Project since 2015; through value engineering and detailed feasibility study phases, proceeding to full EPCM development of the processing facilities, site infrastructure and tailings facilities. Project duration is expected to last from Q2 2019 to Q2 2022.

Rosemont will be the third-largest copper mine in the United States, accounting for 10% of domestic annual copper production, and has an expected 19-year mine life. The Project has recently completed a 10-year permitting process and will be one of the most environmentally sensitive and advanced operations ever permitted in the United States, including the largest dry stack tailings facility of its kind in the world. The processing plant will produce copper and molybdenum concentrates by a process that includes; crushing, grinding, flotation, concentrate handling, and filtration and dry-stacking of the tailing's residue.

  • Provide project support in document management for incoming and outgoing deliverables including vendor data
  • Coordinate multi-office and work-sharing information in a timely and efficient manner
  • Coordinate the distribution of duties within the document control team
  • Effectively interface with the client document control team
  • Track, transmit, and accurately file electronic engineering documents, drawings and correspondence via SDX (Ausenco's document management system)
  • Ensure that company and client procedures and standards are adhered to in processing engineering documents, drawings and vendor data
  • Conduct document searches and generate various reports
  • Update and maintain the project document control plans
  • Actively participate in project meetings and anticipate information management need
  • Actively plan for the archive and close out of all deliverables and documentation


  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in project document control on heavy industrial or mining EPCM projects;
  • Preferably a diploma/certificate in business or office management
  • Knowledge of vendor database operation and practical knowledge of Internet-based document control databases - Sharepoint, SDX, Aconex and Excel preferred but not mandatory
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential
  • Ability to coordinate and delegate duties and manage time effectively
  • Strong formatting and editing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, MS Project, Viso and Adobe
  • Able to provide administrative support for a variety of personalities
  • Initiative to resolve a range of administrative problems and inquiries quickly
