Talent Acquisition Specialist - Tucson, AZ

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced recruiter to support our growth in US. Based in Tucson, the Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist will partner with our Rosemont project Team to ensure we can leverage and deploy the right talent to support this flagship project.

A bit of the project you are about to embark:

Rosemont is a copper development project, located in Pima County, Arizona, approximately 30 miles southeast of Tucson. [Company] has been working with Hudbay Minerals on the Rosemont Project since 2015; through value engineering and detailed feasibility study phases, proceeding to full EPCM development of the processing facilities, site infrastructure and tailings facilities. Project duration is expected to last from Q2 2019 to Q2 2022.

Rosemont will be the third-largest copper mine in the United States, accounting for 10% of domestic annual copper production, and has an expected 19-year mine life. The Project has recently completed a 10-year permitting process and will be one of the most environmentally sensitive and advanced operations ever permitted in the United States, including the largest dry stack tailings facility of its kind in the world. The processing plant will produce copper and molybdenum concentrates by a process that includes; crushing, grinding, flotation, concentrate handling, and filtration and dry-stacking of the tailing's residue.

This is a contract position (1 year) that can become permanent, as [Company] is also working on other different projects in Southwest US.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Partner with hiring managers to determine resourcing needs, create role profiles, determine sourcing and recruitment strategies, and identify target markets.
  • Deliver an outstanding end to end recruitment process by managing all recruitment activities including preparing job postings, strategically sourcing candidates, screening applications to short-list, participating in interviews, conducting references/background checks and preparing and extending offers to candidates.
  • Assist with the development of best in class talent acquisition strategy and processes to ensure all hiring meets the technical as well as cultural fit with [Company] and our core values.
  • Identify issues and create solutions for recruiting success using an efficient communication and resources.
  • Generate external talent pipeline; proactively source for high-quality candidates and maintain relationships with talent for future opportunities.


Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Psychology or Business.
  • 5+ years' end to end technical recruitment experience in either mining, professional services or an EPCM/Project environment.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and requisitions.
  • The ability to develop strong, consultative relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced computer skills with innovative approaches to searching out exceptional talent including specific experience with applicant tracking systems (Oracle an asset) and social media internet searching.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to partner with and influence decision makers.
  • Spanish language skills an asset.
