Lead Mechanical Layout Designer

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Burlington Ontario Office for a Lead Mechanical Layout Designer. [Company] is looking for a highly organized individual who shares our commitment to deliver value to our clients.

As a Lead Mechanical Layout Designer your responsibilities will include:
  • Coordination of a multidisciplinary project team of designers across multiple offices
  • Assistance with forecasting and monitoring of budgeted hours
  • Monitoring and enforcement of project drafting standards
  • Development of mechanical layouts in 2D and 3D environments
  • Preparation of drawings according to project design criteria
  • Application of project defined regulations, codes, and standards
  • Facilitation of project model reviews, and follow up of action items (tags)
  • Compliance with all [Company] corporate policies and procedures by adopting [Company] Quality Assurance and Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements.


Qualifications:

Your attributes and accomplishments will include:
  • Mechanical engineering Technician's diploma or equivalent
  • 10+ years experience in the Layout of Mineral Processing Plants in a multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment
  • Experience working as a Lead Designer
  • Working knowledge of Smartplant preferred or similar (AutoCad / AutoPLANT (3D), Microstation)
  • Gold and Copper commodities experience
  • Understanding of industry regulatory codes and standards
  • Well-developed written and oral skills
  • Willingness to travel between Ausenco's Toronto & Burlington locations
  • Experience with Smartplant, Industrial projects, and core mechanical design (such as chutes and plate work) would be considered an asset
